Promoting reconciliation, accountability and human rights in Sri Lanka

adopted on 27 March 2014

With this resolution, the Human Rights Council requested the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights to undertake a comprehensive investigation into alleged violations and abuses of human rights by both parties in Sri Lanka during the final months of the conflict, with a view to ensuring accountability. It also urged the government of Sri Lanka to investigate all alleged attacks on journalists, human rights defenders, members of religious minority groups and other members of civil society and to hold perpetrators of such attacks to account; and encouraged it to continue cooperating with Special Procedures mandate holders.
